Self-proclaimed dreamer, student of life, and perfectionist, Daniel Dews was born and raised in Hawthorne, California where he took being a Beach Boy very seriously – and not just because he went to the same high school as the band.

In addition to surfing, sailing and attracting friends from all over the world, Daniel developed a passion for varnishing . . . seriously, a real passion. Sure, his expert work has helped garner awards among the woodie elite, but that’s not the whole story. He can’t help but varnish; it’s a calling. If you don’t believe it, all you have to do is put your most treasured wood challenge in his hands and see his eyes light up. Or get him talking about it and then try to stop him; this man loves wood. He also loves his 1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster and Judy, his wife of 28 years . . . but not in that order.

Daniel has spent the past three decades becoming a famous brightwork professional in Marina Del Rey, California. He didn’t mean to become famous, it’s just that his work is that good. While perfecting the wood on world-class yachts, Daniel lusted after old woodie station wagons (a passion since c hildhood) until he finally purchased and refinished his own.

Daniel believes it’s more important that his clients get the glory, but is humbly delighted every time one of his varnishing projects takes home a ”Best Of” trophy.
